THREE HUNDRED ZEROES

Lessons of the Heart on the Appalachian Trail

I suspect many are unfamiliar with hiking or hiking on the Appalachian Trail and may wonder about the title. First, let me define a Zero Day.

On the Appalachian Trail, whenever hikers take a day off from hiking, they hike “zero” miles. This has evolved into defining that day off from hiking as a “Zero Day”; hence the title: THREE HUNDRED ZEROES.

The book went on sale today, 21 February, 2010. This is my first adventure in the world of self-publishing. Please bear with me as I feel my way and make all the mistakes a newbie to this world makes.

Check out the web site for the book at: ThreeHundredZeroes.com, If it entices you, you can order the book on a secure site at the eStore:

At some point along the way I’ll discuss what it takes to self-publish a book, I think you’ll find it interesting.

Feel free to comment on things. I do listen to well-placed suggestions. Comments show up in the right-sidebar.

Thanks

I have waited with fish baited breath for this arrival Dennis. It’s like your first baby being born. I thought it was a WW II book, with those Japanese Zeros planes. Well I’ll have to settle for an incredible journey through our great country by an equally incredible person. I really hope you included your saintly wife Jane. She’ll spice it up some. I’m sure you’ve included stories of midnight streaking around a campfire and encounters with naked wildlife too. I’m really looking forward to reading it, all my bathroom material is just about out. I’ve resorted to reading advertising in the back of Golf Digest.

Well worth the wait, Dennis!!!! Have to confess that I cheated and went right to the BEST chapter, “New Hampshire.” I am truly honored to have been a part of your journey, because sharing yours has renewed my spirit for someday finishing my own SOBO. 73, KD2VX / “Kit-Kat”

It is a non-fiction travel adventure describing my hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2007/2008. Interesting you should mention the self-publishing, which I prefer to call Indie Publishing, since it more resembles the activities of the Independent Film producers these days. I recently did a presentation on Indie Publishing and what I’ve found that helps (and what doesn’t seem to work) an Indie publisher succeed. It was a fun filled presentation and I do believe that the attendees went away with lots of good information.
